An Essay on My Experiences in Lockdown during Corona Pandemic | Krupa Solanki
In this lockdown era, people have faced a lot of challenges to deal with the abrupt change in lifestyle. In many countries, gathering of people are prohibited. Our government plays a vital role to defeat COVID-19. We have to follow the guidelines of government. India entered in it’s third phase of lockdown on 4th May, however the number of cases of COVID -19 increased threefold in the last few days in few states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Delhi. The Government has said people facing an emergency will be allowed to move but only if they follow social distancing. Many of us, are staying at home and sitting down more than we usually do. It is an unpredictable experience for all Indians during this lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic.
I would like to share my experience with you. During lockdown mostly I have spent time in learning new dishes and supporting my mother in household chores. Furthermore, I do an hour of exercise and yoga everyday in the morning. It improves my immunity and makes my body less susceptible to the coronavirus.
I have started to live broadcast my classes. Live class is a unique learning project for my students and me. It is really a great experience and motivation not only for my pupils but for me also. It inspired us to be more creative, to focus on learning and using as much as possible. Moreover, the ongoing lockdown which had to be imposed to corona virus crisis, has affected the poor in a major way. While the state government has been making an effort to provide food and essential to the daily wage earners, migrants, and those on the streets. A few individuals are also stepping up to make huge efforts to help them in the city. I have joined a group of volunteers who help the needy around us. With social distancing in mind we came up with our plan. We cook and standardize about four or five recipes like sabji roti, khichdi kadhi, upma, daal rice. We make lunch and dinner for 50 people. We keep it outside our building gate and there is a volunteer who has a car, he goes and distributes by leaving it for them. The meals are all cooked at home, there is no catering involved and they are served hot within a kilometer of where it is prepared. Furthermore, during this frightening crisis it is essential to spend some time worshipping and praying to god. In the evening all my family members pray together to avoid the almighty. A few moments of prayer and holy contemplation can kill your long day stress and convey peace in everyone’s mind.
In short, I have enjoyed the slower pace of life and enjoy working from home even though I pretend to miss my fantastic colleagues.
